The market rewards what you are willing to give up
Almost everyone wants the final result. Few accept the invisible years: living below your means, going remote, assets instead of lifestyle. Which price are you still unwilling to pay?
- Entrepreneurship
- Values
- Strategy
- Remote work
It is increasingly clear to me that most people do not want to give up anything today, while still wanting a better tomorrow.
When I tell the path that led me to build a substantial real-estate portfolio, the answer between the lines is almost always the same.
Living for years below your means. Reinvesting almost everything. Giving up immediate consumption. Accepting reasoned debt to buy assets instead of liabilities for lifestyle.
The price of going remote
The same applies to Syncronika.
When in 2015 we chose to become one of the first fully remote companies, many thought it was madness.
For me it meant giving up apparent control, leaving my comfort zone, and moving abroad alone in 2012 to understand that a company could work even without my daily presence.
Even though I had every comfort at home.
It was not easy. But it was the price to pay.
They want the result, not the years
What I notice is that almost everyone wants the final result, but few are willing to accept the years when nobody sees progress.
They want financial freedom, but not living below their standards.
They want companies that grow, but cannot stand uncertainty and risk.
They want independence, but do not want to give up present comforts.
They want a fit body, but do not behave inside and outside the gym to get it.
Short term vs long term
The problem is that the market and the universe do not reward what you desire.
They reward what you are willing to give up to obtain it. Giving up short-term gain for the long-term goal.
Desire without a price remains an opinion. Results arrive when the price has been paid long enough to become structure.
The right question
And perhaps the question to ask yourself is not:
Why do I not have the results I want yet?
But:
Which price am I still unwilling to pay?
